GUIDELINES

Theme, contributors guidelines, and requirements.

First Blood - A Zen’in family zine will focus on the theme of “The blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb.” The zine will be split up into two themes: Blood and Water. Blood will focus on members of the Zen’in clan and their bonds forged outside of family, and Water will focus on the bonds they were born with.

Contributors will be asked to create for either of these two themes and to explore the depth of the character(s) they choose to create for. In contributor applications, each applicant will be able to choose a preference for which section of the zine they would like to create for.Moderators will take this preference into account for each contributor, but applicants may be asked to create for a section of the zine that might not have been their first choice if one side favors the other in the overall results.Blood: In this section, contributors can choose to create pieces including characters outside of the Zen’in family while still maintaining focus on the characters themselves.Water: This section will focus exclusively on relationships within the Zen’in clan. Minor references to other characters are allowed, but focus must remain exclusively on familial relationships alone. All contributors must be 18 and above to apply for the zine. All project communications will be held in a private discord server (link sent upon contributor verification). Therefore, we ask that each contributor make an account so that they will be able to keep up with announcements, moderator communication, and zine updates.Deadlines for the zine are expected to be followed by each contributor, as well as upfront communication in the event the contributor can no longer finish their piece for the zine. The pieces for this zine will not be pre-existing, and progress must be reported on each original piece. Posting sneak-previews on social media will begin during sales promotion, and the weeks through this period.
